12.21.15 Week 47 Ploiesti, Romania

Well its a lovely p day here in Ploiesti, Romania... EXCEPT THERE IS NO SNOW!!!!!!!!!! I'm pretty upset about it. Apparently Romania is normally covered in snow, so everybody is pretty weirded out.. hahah.

I have some awesome highlights this week, and some sad news too..

The sad news is that our investigators Nicoletta and Florin will not be getting baptized on Saturday. We have had a super hard and frustrating week with them, because they have completely ignored us for almost a week and half. And we have called and texted and gone to their house and everything! And after almost giving up, we decided to go visit one more time. So we went over to find nobody home but the grandma, who sat us down and told us what was happening. It turns out that Nicoletta kept it hidden that she has an addiction to coffee and drinks alcohol a lot, and she just decided to bail and not say anything because she was super embarrassed about it. She doesn't really want to try changing her habits either. We are super sad about it and only hope that she is doing okay.. we left her a cute note at the house and we pray that she will give us a call after Christmas and we can talk about it and work it out. It was pretty sad... but I know that in time, all will work out the way it is supposed to! I love her and her son Florin and we continually pray for them and hope the situation will get better.
Other sad news... this week I was supposed to be performing in the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest, in a big missionary Christmas program.... BUT THEN I GOT STREP!!!!!!! Yes... just my luck, right?
But on the bright side... this week we went to have a lesson with one of the giant gypsy families we are teaching.. and we happened to walk in right in the middle of a crazy gypsy family Christmas tradition... THE BURNING/ CUTTING/ EATING OF THE PIG... yes that is exactly what it sounds like it would be. They literally catch a wild pig, stab it in the neck (WHILE ITS ALIVE), then set it on fire (WHILE ITS ALIVE)... then cut it up and eat literally almost every part of it. We walked in, and see this GIANT dead open pig on the table.. and all of the gypsys tried feeding us the skin of the pig. Because yes... that is literally a REAL THING here. They peel it off and salt it and eat it. And yes, I did almost throw up, in case you were wondering. It was wacko, just like a lot of other things here in Romania... but hey its all part of the experience hahahah!

So this week I am truly grateful for all of you. Thank you to everyone who has sent me some Christmas love, I can't express how much it means to me! Thank you so so much :) Thanks for being the most incredible family ever.. each and every one of you :) I pray for all of you constantly and hope for nothing but joy and peace and happiness this Christmas :) And all that we have, and all that we are able to give, is because of HIM. :) Love Him and think of Him and find joy through Him.

I am so excited to skype on Friday!!!!! :):):):)

Also... today is my 11 month mark out here. HOW CRAZY IS THAT!!

love you all soooo much... CRACIUN FERICIT!! MERRY CHRISTMAS xoxoxoxoxxoxoxo
